Harsma’s Story:

From Challenge to Innovation

What started as a personal challenge grew into an innovative breakthrough in the green industry. Landscaper Sjors Harsma was forced to step away from his work due to circumstances but refused to sit still. He developed a compact machine with a pruning arm, reducing labor intensity and making the pruning process far more efficient.

In 2018, he founded Harsma Groen, specializing in mechanical pruning with narrow, maneuverable tracked vehicles. His innovation quickly gained traction among landscapers, green contractors, and municipalities, who embraced its ease of use and efficiency. From the very beginning, Sjors Harsma collaborated with Peter van der Kooij, owner of Van der Kooij Mechanization & Construction, a specialist in custom solutions, sales, and repair of agricultural and earthmoving machinery.

In 2023, they joined forces to develop an even more advanced pruning machine. This collaboration led to the launch of the Harsma ONE in early 2025 – a revolutionary machine that makes pruning faster, easier, and more sustainable.
